This month, we are looking at hydraulics and our pump operations. Below there are several videos showing pump calculations, hose and nozzle flow testing, and basic equations. I believe it is important that every engineer understands these basics and hold tru to the Engineer title, not driver. Anyone can drive an apparatus but our job is to operate. We need to expect more out of our Engineers. The first reading is a blog post of a debate and info of 4” vs 5”. Dennis LeGear is great source of information on everything hydraulics and he adds is information on this blog which is very informative. The second is a basics of pumping. IT has a lot of great info and equations that we should become familiar with.
